Raab- Hungary 1809 15mm- Shako II

This scenario is taken from Rise of Eagles scenario book. French vs Austrian 15mm (5 players) The French Cavalry can attempt to find a ford to cross Pancza Stream. Infantry can cross the river at half speed. Raab is a "reinforced Corps" sized game, so a nice big game for end of club year game. About 50% of the Austrian force are 2nd rate, they did OK at first but when push came to shove they struggled when taking casualties just like the real battle Alex, Warren and Alan were the Austrians, Harry and I were French. Counters - Blues = Staggered, Yellow/Red = Kills & Green = Blown Cavalry

Opening Moves

Turn 3- French Cavalry found the ford turn 1 and have to go across in Column.

The French Chasseurs are charged by the Austrian 2nd rate cavalry and bounce them.

The French 1st Div attacking Kis-Megyer farmand were repulsed

The French centre march across the Pancza stream

The Italian Division coming to grips. ( I don't have Italians )

The game became a hard slog along the whole line and I forgot to take any more photos The Austrian took lots of casualties in melee and 2 Austrian Divs were on Morale checks by turn 5. The Austrian Cavalry broke on turn 6 and the Austrian right flank under Jellacic became demoralised on the same turn.
The Austrians would pull back and the field would be left to the French. All in all another fun Corps level game getting close to a decision, considering of the 5 players 1 had never played Shako II, 1 had only played once, 2 had played 2 or 3 games and me!

Shako II are definitely rules for a 2-3 Corps per side (up to 6 players) sized game on a Big Game Saturday!
